Digital Transformation for Automotive Emissions Certification
Context: Leading Automotive Manufacturer (Stuttgart)
Role: UI/UX Designer & Requirement Engineer
The Challenge: To digitize and streamline the highly complex, legally binding emissions certification process (WLTP) for a global automotive giant. The goal was to transform dense international regulations into intuitive digital workflows for engineers.
The Process
1. Discovery & Stakeholder Alignment
- Executive Workshops: Facilitated requirements-gathering workshops with 10+ managers and department leaders to define the business scope and legal necessities.
- User Research: Conducted in-depth interviews with engineers to understand the friction points in the existing certification process.
2. Complexity Reduction & Workflow Design
- System Design: Mapped out and designed end-to-end workflows that ensured compliance with international laws (WLTP) while reducing manual cognitive load for the engineers.
- Technical Gatekeeping: Served as the bridge between user needs and code. I validated the engineering integrity of design components, ensuring that complex user stories were technically viable before implementation.
3. Agile Execution (Global Scale)
- International Collaboration: Worked within an Agile environment, coordinating daily with development teams in India and Romania to ensure pixel-perfect implementation.
- Data-Driven Iteration: Led user testing sessions and utilized usage data to refine technical specifications and user stories, closing the gap between "requirements" and "usability."
